History of hair

work and its origins. Memorial hair work jewelry became popular in the
late 18th century and reached its zenith in the 19th century. The
wearing of a loved ones hair, encased in a locket, woven into a chain,
or even framed in a wall, was a devotional act which kept the departed
both physically and symbolically closer to the wearer.
